Merry Christmas

The Sommer family has been blessed this year. As Michigan is evolving into a new era, we are all healthy, safe and employed at this current time.

Lorin is now working for Hewlette-Packard and on the Kraft Foods project. GM sold EDS to HP this year. Lorin’s physical office moved back to Pontiac. He is able to work from home several days a week. At Church he was released as the venture leader and is currently a temple worker at the Detroit Temple and, of course, the basketball coach. Lorin also joined a motorcycle “gang.” They ride once a month for an adventure some where.

Kaye is still working at Milford High School. She was about ready to give up being the DECA advisor but a bunch of really interesting and fun kids got involved this year. She has to stay, just to see what happens next. At Church Kaye is the Mia Maid teacher for the Young Women—Krissy’s class. So far so good.

Chalsea is still working for the Federal government. She moved from Rochester to Bloomfield Hills. We like to believe it is so she can be closer to her parents, but in reality it is probably to be closer to Ann Arbor and certain people in Ann Arbor.

Lisa graduated from cosmetology school and received her license this year. She is working at Fantastic Sam’s in Union Lake and living at home. To stay on Kaye’s insurance, she is also attending Oakland Community College and taking salon management classes.

Krissy still has the motto – I’ll do whatever my sisters have not. She ended the school year in Children’s Hospital because of a blockage to her pancreas. A very scary experience for all involved. She was hospitalized for about eight days and had surgery to fix the problem. The day after Krissy received the doctors OK to return to normal activity, she joined the Walled Lake Northern golf team. Two weeks after her last golf match, she started basketball. She made the freshman team and yesterday was pulled up to JV. However, that is also the day of the biggest snow storm, so she missed her big day on the court due to a snow day.

Our year has been full of blessings. We were able to take a family cruise to the Cozumel and Belize (we realized how blessed we are and were able see Book of Mormon cities and enjoy many other adventures). Then, we survived a mini tornado that took out many trees and damaged our house. Finally, we traveled to Portland, Oregon, at the end of July for the Sommer family reunion. While there Kaye met up with her Mom’s sister Betty and several of Betty's children. Kaye’s cousin was going through the temple for her endowments and invited Kaye to join their family. What a wonderful place to meet and get to know your extended family.

From our family to yours - Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
