MERRY CHRISTMAS

We love this season so much because it is a time to reflect on our lives. We are thankful for our family and friends, our homes and our jobs and most of all at this time of year—Christ. I asked each family member to write a couple of lines for the annual newsletter. I'll leave it up to you to decide who wrote their own paragraph and who had their paragraph written for them.

Lorin - It was an interesting and eventful year. There were some significant events like our vacation to Idaho, celebrating his Mom and Dad’s 50th Anniversary, turning 50 himself, and riding his motorcycle to Tennessee. He spent many hours watching Krissy play ball (all kinds), coaching the ward Young Men's team—losing only one game, and a ride through "The Dragon," in Tennessee where there are 312 curves in 11 miles. He really enjoyed spending time with Kaye and doing something that was new for both of them. At work he trained two new employees from India on how to perform his job (ouch). Thankfully he was assigned to a new team. He is grateful to still be employed. He did not even have to change offices, but is now working for HP Enterprise Services. He also is spiritually employed Thursday nights at our Detroit temple and enjoys weekend motorcycle trips - even in November!

Kaye - It was a fun year of firsts—it was the first time going to Washington DC, first l-o-n-g ride on the back of a bike, first 10K on a bike (She purchased the bike the day before—so lets say she wasn’t really ready), her first Dodgers game (Kevin went with her DECA students which made it great), first time I almost made a basket on the Piston floor (yes, the others were air balls) and first time in 17 years of having only have two preps to teach in a semester. It was also year of reconnecting with many friends and family, traveling to some of my favorite spots, doing my favorite things, and spending time with friends and family, which has been totally awesome.

Chalsea had a very fun year full of traveling. She went to California to see Kevin and then Europe with Kara, a friend from the Ann Arbor Ward. She still lives in the same apartment in Bloomfield Hills and has enjoyed the company of Jake who is attending U of M in Ann Arbor.

Lisa decided to go back to school for a salon management degree. Having no insurance was a large motivation to return to school for more education. She is now working at Fantastic Sams on Union Lake Road (she is known as Camille at work), going to school and trying to see Kyle a couple of days a week.

Krissy was busy during 2009. She ended her freshman school year playing short stop, first baseman and power hitter on the freshmen softball team. They ended their season with the final record of 21-4. During the summer she FINALLY received her permit to drive. She then started off her sophomore year playing on the JV golf team. She ended that season on a high note where she played her last match in a varsity tournament and received a medal for having the lowest score on her team. Sportwise, she is spending six days a week on basketball where she is learning a life skill of dealing with people--coach--and his motivational methods. She is on the JV team now and they won their first game with a score of 41-20, so far, that is the high point. She says she is excited to see what 2010 has in store for her and wants to thank all who have helped her through this year! Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year!

We miss our family and friends that are not near. We hope if you are in Michigan, you know you always have a place to stay.
